1st of 5 Emails from Ken Kratz
In total, I’ve received five emails from Ken Kratz which I’ll publishing here in serial form over the next several days. The first one I sent was after my first viewing. Like all of the world, I think, I was upset. I simply went online, Googled his name, and his website showed up. I went to it, and sent a message through his contact form, the contents of which were:
THE WORLD WILL KNOW NOW THANKS TO NETFLIX. THE WORLD WILL KNOW.
I figured at this point that he’d probably received thousands of such messages, and my chances of actually being read were close to nil, but to my surprise, he actually did send a response:
I assume you reviewed the 80% of the forensic evidence the defense team omitted from the documentary? What did you think of all of that uncontested evidence?Because to reach such a strong opinion I assume you reviewed both sides…By the way, I’m usually willing to answer legitimate questions. Ok?
A bit snarky, definitely defensive, but at least he responded, and I give him a lot of credit for that. What I burn to know is whether he sincerely believes in the guilt of Brendan Dassey and Steven Avery? Did the film leave out, as Kratz claims, 80% of the forensic evidence? What is that evidence?
If my theory is correct, then Kratz was fooled by Ryan Hillegas. If Kratz has been right all along, then we’ve all been fooled by the filmmakers. As I have evaluated Hillegas, I have evaluated the other characters in this drama, and what I most want to know about Katz is whether he’s faking it, or whether he’s a true believer. If Katz is merely wrong, I believe he should be, dare I even say it?- forgiven. But it’s a much different matter if he’s wrong and knows he’s wrong. If that is true, he’s been complicit in the destruction of many lives.
Tomorrow, I’ll be posting some exclusive material found nowhere else on the internet that will include more of my email exchanges with Mr. Kratz. My objective is to peer into the mind and temperament of this individual. You know, to get into his head a bit.
