1st of 5 Emails from Ken Kratz

In total, I’ve received five emails from Ken Kratz which I’ll publishing here in serial form over the next several days.  The first one I sent was after my first viewing. Like all of the world, I think, I was upset.  I simply went online, Googled his name, and his website showed up.  I went to it, and sent a message through his contact form, the contents of which were:

THE WORLD WILL KNOW NOW THANKS TO NETFLIX. THE WORLD WILL KNOW.

I figured at this point that he’d probably received thousands of such messages, and my chances of actually being read were close to nil,  but to my surprise, he actually did send a response:

I assume you reviewed the 80% of the forensic evidence the defense team omitted from the documentary?  What did you think of all of that uncontested evidence?Because to reach such a strong opinion I assume you reviewed both sides…By the way, I’m usually willing to answer legitimate questions.  Ok?

A bit snarky, definitely defensive, but at least he responded, and I give him a lot of credit for that.  What I burn to know is whether he sincerely believes in the guilt of Brendan Dassey and Steven Avery?  Did the film leave out, as Kratz claims, 80% of the forensic evidence?  What is that evidence?

If my theory is correct, then Kratz was fooled by Ryan Hillegas.  If Kratz has been right all along, then we’ve all been fooled by the filmmakers.  As I have evaluated Hillegas, I have evaluated the other characters in this drama, and what I most want to know about Katz is whether he’s faking it, or whether he’s a true believer.  If Katz is merely wrong,  I believe he should be, dare I even say it?- forgiven.  But it’s a much different matter if he’s wrong and knows he’s wrong.  If that is true, he’s been complicit in the destruction of many lives.

Tomorrow, I’ll be posting some exclusive material found nowhere else on the internet that will include more of my email exchanges with Mr. Kratz.  My objective is to peer into the mind and temperament of this individual.  You know, to get into his head a bit.

  • If Steven took a look at her car under the hood why didn't he just say that. This was found because it fits with the story Brendan told.
I'm as confused as anyone else, but this could have been explained with one sentence from Steven.

  • How did his sweat DNA get places?

Gee, I dunno… I'm sure all the dozens of T-Shirts in his double-wide trailer were freshly washed, so that's a real toughie!

  • If the cops were out for a frame up, why didn't they find the key the first time they searched? And why would they have removed Teresa Halbach's DNA from the key? Why wasn't stronger evidence and more of it planted? I'm sorry to disagree with you Mr. Lukas, but I don't find the argument that the cops planted evidence to be very convincing at all. You need more than motive, I'm afraid.

  • I agree that Avery had a strong disincentive. And there is all sorts of other reason to believe he didn't do it. So, if you believe that the cops framed Avery with actually killing Teresa Halbach, then the question remains, who did? That is what is of primary importance to me.

  • Go read this interview with the film-makers in response to Kratz' BS claims.
Also recall that Kratz was caught exploiting domestic abuse victims for his personal pleasure. He is a scum bag, and all of us living here in the area have known this for many years.

  • Teresa worked for Auto Trader and was likely a regular out at the Avery yard.
More to the point, why would a man who was merely waiting for the formalities of his law suit for $36 million to come to fruition. He had no motive to commit a crime at all.
On the other hand, the Manty Co Sheriff's Dept was about to lose a $36 million lawsuit that neither their qualified immunity nor their insurance was going to cover. The manty Co Sheriff's Dept has AN EXTREMELY STRONG MOTIVE TO FRAME HIM.

  • More importantly, how can her key have ONLY Steven's DNA on it and not her own.
Think about it: do your own keys have any of your own DNA on them?

Second, the Avery's are pretty messy, sloppy people who rarely showered after a day of working in the junk yard. How the hell can you exaplin the absolutel lack of blood in the house, in the garage, or anywhere for that matter. If you have ever hunted and had to skin and cut-up and animal, you would know that spatter goes everywhere, especially tiny droplets that even a crime-scene investigator admits he could not have cleaned up, and especially in such a messy house or garage. It is simply not possible.
    But thanks for playing.

  • I read that as the person meant the Avery's are the only people that allowed total access for film makers. I don't think anybody thinks they are film makers. It was plain as the day is long what they do for work. Where do you work? You are very self entitled, overly righteous and sarcastic to all of us on blog. I read the link next to it. Good stuff. If you read it you would not have replied that way

  • Okay, so I've been thinking about this today and yesterday. I was initially going to suggest that Avery's DNA under the hood of Teresa Halbach's vehicle could easily have gotten there if Teresa had simply asked Steven to look at something underneath the hood. It is a salvage yard, after all, and I suspect Steven knows a thing or two about cars having worked with them and around them all his life. A salvage yard is the perfect place for finding operable parts from one vehicle and replacing inoperable parts in another vehicle. I'm sure that's what he did with the Dodge van. Teresa could simply have asked Steven to have a look at something underneath the hood of her RAV 4. But as I though about it further, the DNA from the sweat of Steven's hands might not only be weak evidence, given the aforementioned information, it might be evidence in Steven's favor if there were no prints found with the DNA. If he left sweat, how could he not have left his prints? But so far I haven't heard anything about Steven Avery's prints being found anywhere on Teresa Halbach's vehicle. How would you explain that?

  • The Avery's are not Hollywood movie makers. They run a salvage yard.

  • Knowing that only one party was allowed total access from the Hollywood movie makers (The Avery's) and Theresa's family said no as well as 80 % from prosecution said noway is it no wonder all think they have answers? Is being one sided okay these days and fair? Please review: http://onelittlelibrary.com/2015/12/28/ethical-storytelling-my-thoughts-on-making-a-murderer/

  • I don't have an explanation for now. But what about what the prosecutor doesn't seem to have any desire to prove? Lake of any physical evidence where a grisly murder occurred is just as, if not more problematic than the sweaty palm prints.

  • Ken Kratz has been referring to this for a long time. It warrants very close scrutiny. For now, I cannot explain it. That does not mean that there is no other explanation other than Steven Avery's involvement. How do you explain no DNA of Teresa's in the dirty dusty garage?

  • How do you explain DNA from Steven Avery's sweaty hands being found under the hood of the RAV4?

  • I honestly don't know how I could have ruined anyone's holiday, but the other point you've made is quite valid. In the very near future, I plan to publish more of my correspondence with Ken Kratz. I happen to know exactly what evidence he's referring to, and I guarantee you that it won't be excluded here. I welcome you to the discussion, and thanks for your comment.
